Feature Spotlight

"Finally .. Nerve mapping made easy"

The NMS410 and NMS450 feature a combined nerve mapping and nerve locating cable. The unit auto-senses which modality is used and automatically switches the current between the nerve mapping probe and the stimulating needle.

Xavant Technology New Generation Nerve Stimulators

June 7, 2010- Xavant recently introduced its new range and generation Stimpod NMS410 and 450 nerve stimulators in South Africa and international markets. Sales have exceeded all expectations in the first 60 days since its launch on March 25. Xavant began shipping to Europe in May with initial sales expected from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. The new generation Stimpod will be available in over 40 EU countries in the coming months. The NMS410 is already available in the USA with the NMS450 to follow within the next few months.

“Customers around the world are experiencing our technological advances and market feedback has been very favorable to date,” said Grey van der Hoff, Xavant’s Marketing and Sales VP. “We appreciate our distributors’ patience, and are working hard to meet the current demand for the Stimpod.”

Stimpod is a precision nerve locating device used for localizing specific neural pathways with a contemporary and exciting look and feel to the user interface. Localization of nerves by electrical stimulation enables users to connect the nerve stimulator to a conducting needle through which local anesthetics can be injected.  The distance of the needle (cathode) from the nerve can be estimated by establishing the minimum threshold current required facilitating a neuromuscular response. Both the NMS410 and the NMS450 also offers the unique nerve mapping/ locating combination cable, enabling the anesthetist to easily map out nerves percutaneously prior to locating the nerve with the needle.

The Stimpod NMS450 offers a revolutionary three-dimensional accelerometer for use during Neuromuscular Blocking Agent (NMBA) monitoring. This enables carefree monitoring of the patient without the need to calibrate the unit and continuously adjust the position of the accelerometer. It also offers all the stimulation patterns necessary for NMBA monitoring– Train of Four (TOF), Double Burst (DB), Post Tetanic Count (PTC), Single Twitch (TWI) and Tetanus (TET).

Xavant ignited the Neuromuscular Blocking Agent Monitoring functionality revolution with the NMS300 in the early 2000’s with real-time feedback achieved by tri-axial accelerometry. The NMS450 is an enhancement of this technology, incorporating the accelerometer into the NMBA cable for further ease of use. User manuals and technical specifications are available on the Xavant website at www.xavant.com

Xavant is a leading supplier of nerve stimulators in the industry with its award-winning designs and clear differentiation of the new generation of nerve stimulators from older technology.
